Artist Talk and Conversation

A Body is an Archive

There are crucial (arti)facts hidden beyond official historical narratives; Polish artist and activist Karol Radziszewski seeks them out by speaking with those individuals whose voices have been kept silent. He calls it performing the archive, but others might call it developing forms of encounter. In following the footsteps of the anonymized ‘some-bodies’ who performed their lives in uncommon ways, Radziszewski searches for queer ancestors, not bound by genetic ties but through a family of choice.
The artist talk will be moderated by Zofia nierodzińska.

The event takes place in Freja Bäckman’s installation I was told I chop wood like a ballet dancer and is part of the public program of the D’EST Curatorial Summit from 20 to 22 April 2018, organized by Ulrike Gerhardt.
