Stone Beings ~ Interconexiones Minerales: SYNchronies of TErritory and MEmory in Re-existence
An evening of anticolonial tectonics, rematriation, and mineral interconnections
Flutgraben e.V.
October 22, 2025, 4-10 pm
Stone Beings ~ Interconexiones Minerales: SYNchronies of TErritory and MEmory in Re-existence gathers artists, researchers, and Indigenous leaders in a six-hour journey across territory, body, and memory. Through films, performances, readings, and collective dialogues, the program explores the spiritual, ecological, and political relationships between human and mineral worlds, and the ongoing processes of rematriation and decolonial resistance.
The event celebrates the encounter between two interrelated programs: Interconexiones Minerales — an artistic research and residency program linking mining and post-extraction ecologies between Tarapacá (Chile) and East Germany.
SIN TEMER 2025: SYNchronies of TErritory and MEmory in Re-existence — an artist residency connecting Colombia and Germany through decolonial methodologies and the movement for the rematriation of the Abuelas de Piedra (“Stone Grandmothers”) from Berlin to San Agustín, Colombia.
This multilingual gathering (Español, English, Namtrik, Runa Shimi, Wixárika, German) includes film screenings, performances, readings, video mapping, and a mineral banquet, featuring the voices and works of Adriana Velasco Muelas, Carla Isabel Espinosa, CENEx, Constanza Mendoza, Gabriel Rossel-Santillán, Gabriela Alcayaga, Indy Piapya, Julián Santana Rodríguez, Juana Guerrero, Karen Michelsen Castañón, Larisa Crunțeanu, ~pes (Elizabeth Gallón Droste & Pablo Torres), Posmonumenta, Sonja Hornung, Suza Husse, and Verena Melgarejo Weinandt. Translations will be available in Spanish and English.
Program Highlights
16:00 — ANTICOLONIAL TECTONICS: Las Piedras Hablan / The Stones Speak
Opening words and film screenings:
Flores que explotan (Karen Michelsen Castañón, 2023) — on the colonial economy and Indigenous resistance in Iximulew/Guatemala.
Caliche: sangre y muerte (Juana Guerrero & Gabriela Alcayaga, 2015) — a visceral gesture of exhaustion, resistance, and conversation with the earth.
Los Lobos. Segunda visita y reencuentro con las ofrendas Wixárika en Dahlem, Berlín (Gabriel Rossel-Santillán, 2017–2022) — a ceremonial re-encounter with Wixárika offerings and museum collections.

17:00 — TOWARDS THE RETURN OF THE STONE ANCESTORS
Circle of Words (Círculo de Palabra) led by Adriana Velasco Muelas, Indy Piapya, Carla Isabel Espinosa, Julián Santana Rodríguez, and Posmonumenta. A collective dialogue grounded in Misak ceremonial protocol, focusing on the return of the Abuelas de Piedra held at the Humboldt Forum. 20:00 — LIGNITE, SICK WATERS, PETROL, GAS
to slip, to slide, to glitch (Larisa Crunțeanu & Sonja Hornung, 2024) — excerpts exploring disorientation, instability, and repair in mining landscapes.
Estancias (2021) & Finding Andrónico (2018) by Juana Guerrero & Gabriela Alcayaga — meditations on extractive violence, femininity, and resistance.
Talking to you, dead water! (~pes, 2022) — a sonic reflection on the molecular transformations and ecological scars of post-mining landscapes.
